scroll bar/slide bar disappears after a few seconds very anoying

My question is about the charm bar that pops out of the right side edge when you place your pointer in top right of page ,correct. My problem is when I'm nowhere near right top edge & it pops out I'm not talking about a couple times a day If I'm on my laptop for 8 hrs it pops out 12-19 times a hour & it's a nuisanceto get back on track cause it won't disappear til it's clicked off

So I have the opposite of Ken8A ......another thing it's on the right where I use my up & down scroll

Thanks for taking the time to try help me Kerry. I've looked in the mouse setttings before and I've just tried again. My set up is a bit different to yours but i cant see any setting to get rid of the swipe feature on the touchpad, so I'll just have to keep putting up with the horrible pop out side bar and clock jumping out and slapping me in the face...... Ouch!  :(

In short you can add you own style sheet to IE that will be used by every website. If this style sheet contains the line:

@-ms-viewport{width:auto!important}

Then that should prevent the scrollbar disappearing. Works for me. Please let us know if it doesn't work for you.

Trouble is I'm not technically minded Ben and I don't want to mess with what I don't understand...besides why I should I try to put right what Microsoft have got wrong. They have very well paid people to do that. Also the problem isn't restricted to IE 11, It's mostly apparent to me when using apps on my Windows 8 laptop. I use Firefox browser which doesn't have the disappearing scrollbar problem.

It is definitely an IE 11 thing (I am running Windows 7), and it is definitely intentional.

And it is incredibly aggravating.

Interesting that MS stopped participating in this thread a year ago.  

It's not just related to the browser though. It's mostly apparent to me on apps. Every app i've used has a disappearing scrollbar and considering that it's an app based OS, it seems we're well and truly stuck with the disappearing scrollbars.

What's astonishing is that they must have known now for, certainly over a year, about this issue and how frustrating it is for their users but they're silent on the issue. They really don't give a stuff!

It's obvious that theyre just sitting on their hands hoping their p l e b customers will just get used to it.

Seems to me the bigger a company gets, the more remote from it's customers it gets.

If they lost a cent for every curse uttered by someone using disappearing scrollbars, even they would be bankrupt by now!

I think I can help you with some of your frustrating Toshiba mouse issues. I was annoyed about the same things so I hunted through the settings until I found out how to stop those features from constantly happening. Go to your Control Panel - then Ease of Access Center- then Make the Mouse Easier to Use- at the bottom under "See Also" click Mouse Settings- there you will find a tab called ELAN- under devices there should be a highlighted ElanSmart-Pad..?.?.just click that. That's where the settings are to change those settings.  I actually found some other features that I did like. You can hover over each of the features & their settings and there is a video of how each one works.  I can say I am so glad I found it because I have several computers that my employees use and it annoys all of us! Hope that it helps you too!

But now learned I still cant fix the stupid scroll bar issue!! ****! It makes It more than a lil difficult to focus & follow along if I am always having to look away then try to find my place again. As if ADD is difficult enough! Thanks so much for taking the time to fix one simple thing Microsoft. You have made millions of people lose their train of thought! Which equals time!
