nsi memory leaks fixed yet?

I'm having the same issue on my computer with no avail.  The problem stops when I do a safe boot with networking.  However, disabling all non-Microsoft services and startup programs does not help.

Similar to Jasthrus, I'm running a Core 2 Quad (9550) process in an ASUS Rampage motherboard with Nvidea graphics.

I think my machine recently updated the Nvidea drivers.  I'll try to roll those back and see if I have any luck.

Srinivas KR does not provide an answer.  This problem continues and has not been solved.

I continue to monitor the problem, run rootkit, malware, anivirus, etc. scanners and they show nothing. 

I have been using Process Explorer to restart the nsi service as Liam discusses above.  I have observed that nsi memory grows very slowly for about 5 days and then starts to grow exponentially.  At this point, i need to restart the process every day because it grows so fast OR i just restart the whole system and the memory footprint will stay small for another 5 days.

This is a pain MS.  If i do not monitor this process, my system will slow to a crawl at the point nsi consumes ~5 GB of my 8 GB of memory.  Please provide a solution.

I have a workaround to avoid having to restart your PC.  Just restart the svchost process, or if you've separated out the processes, the nsi, process, using Process Explorer, provided free from Microsoft (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx)

It frees up the memory and so far, I've seen no negative knock-on effects from restarting the offending process, even with network/internet apps open.

I as well have been plagued with the NSI memory leak.

At first I was unsure which service within the SVCHOST process, was causing the leak, however, found a link that suggested creating a batch file to separate those services into their own SVCHOST processes.

BATCH FILE: Create a new text document, paste the following, and save as .BAT

SC Config wdiservicehost Type= own

SC Config nsi Type= own

SC Config netprofm Type= own

SC Config fontcache Type= own

SC Config fdphost Type= own

SC Config EventSystem Type= own

After running that batch file and rebooting, I was able to verify that the NSI service is the one causing the leak, as it continues to grow, while the other services do not. Separating them on it's own does not solve the issue, however it helps to identify it. After EXTENSIVE searching, and trying ALL the suggestions out there, WHY is there no clear answer to this, no resolve.

I will continue to try to stop having this happen, as I can see for others who make way more use of their networking than I do, how this can be a pain. I simply use this as my gaming rig, and is simply home networked to my ASUS router. Nothing extensive. My system does slow to a crawl when the memory gets too high, as everyone else, and will only clear after reboot. Even RAM cleaners that are NOT recommended to use with Win 7 cannot free the memory.

PLEASE someone come up with an answer and POST IT!!! If you have had this issue, and it is solved for you, please POST THE ANSWER! I have been reading posts on this that go back to 2008, and STILL no clear answer.

And before anyone asks, YES, full array of Antivirus, Spyware, AntiRootKit, cleaners, all done, NO results, no infections.

I'll chime in with the fact that I'm experiencing this problem as well. It takes longer for me to really experience the problem since my workstation has 24G of memory (I run a bunch of VMs). Right now I'm using 22.5G (and growing) and the svchost with a working set of 12.5 G has the NSI service in it. 

The other astounding thing is that the process has... are you ready?... 185,762 HANDLES open, incrementing about one every 10 sec.
