Why two Windows Folders in Local Disc?

I don't have a problem with the operation of my Vista. When I disconnect it, it makes no difference to XP. I just wondered if, considering the Network Icons and settings showing on XP, whether they were correct.

It might, but I do not know how to set up the network properly, which is why I suggested you post in Vista and label your question "Proper network setup with XP and Vista".

It might be why xp is not working, please check at the vista forum.

I see what you mean. I'll have a look at the links first and see what I can sort out then post if necessary. I'll let you know how I get on.
