Hi Daniela,

It looks like there is something in the network which is blocking the device to get connected. So I would suggest you to go through the article and check for the exact issue.

Why can’t I connect to a network?

Why can’t I find a wireless network?

If you have any third party software installed on the computer, you can try disabling the anti-virus software and check.

Important Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Thanks this is a great suggestion for me since I also have a new ASUS computer. For many reasons, removing the ASUS Power4Gear application has helped, WiFi and processor speeds and congestion. The service was always running and activities were constant making those "helpful adjustment" to power settings. Once removed, I just went back to the actual MS pre-programmed power plans.

Thank you Philip you have captured my thought very nicely.

My post was not simply about the Qualcomm Atheros AR9485WB-EG card, I wish it had been that simple.  In reality I look after a number of computers of different manufacture using different wireless network adapters and the simple truth is many have this same connectivity problem.  The fact that it is a multi device multi manufacturer problem makes it Microsoft's problem as this type of wide spread connectivity issues surely comes home to the OS.

Some AR9485WB-EG cards are assembled reverse. For those defected cards, main plug works as aux and aux works as main, making labels/colors meaningless. Due to this, main cable and AUX may need to be switched for the correct setup, so that the antenna will work correctly. Also for some people, one of these cables or sometimes both are not connected to the card. In such a case, you dont need to reverse them. Just plug in the missing one. For correcting this or checking if a reversing is needed, you will need to remove the casing. So beware of the warranty and other important/technical/legal issues. Do it on your own risk. Its better for an authorized retailer/technical support person to check for this. Also this may not be the reasons of your problem as not many cards are produced faulty.
