Using Windows Phone 8, I am unable to open media content in text messages, says getting content but doesn't open

I received a text with the message "Get media content now". When I "click" on the message phone says "getting media content" then switches back to "get media content". The media does not open.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for having written on the forum.

It could be possible that you’re trying to open or download a format file which isn’t supported from Windows Phone 8.

Another origin of this problem could be related with if the files you’re trying to download or open are protected from a password. This feature isn’t supported from windows phone.

I had this problem for a short time when I first got my 1020. For me... it had to do with my Wifi connection (at least I think it did). I turned it off and back on a few times.. and they finally started coming in. I have found also that depending on the quality of my AT&T connection it still gets a bit quirky now and then.

I would just wait and try in another location. or do as I did.. turn your WiFi off and back on again.

I have a Windows Phone 8 - and I experience the exact same frustrating issue as hermanax90.

I have called my network to have MMS activated - but the issue persists. I cannot open these messages, and they keep getting re-sent. This is nuts. I cannot understand why MS does not fix this BUG?

I have found that switching between "LTE and CDMA" to "CDMA" only will help the messages load and be delivered.

Settings->System->Cellular->"Mode Selection"

thanks - this pointed me in the right direction.

I found that the mms settings on my phone are not activated.

MMS APN settings are required from the service provider - and the automated settings that come from Vodacom - my provider - do not auto populate Windows phones. there is a bug with this. So you have to obtain the settings, and enter them manually. I will try that.
