Using Windows Phone 8, I am unable to open media content in text messages, says getting content but doesn't open

I received a text with the message "Get media content now". When I "click" on the message phone says "getting media content" then switches back to "get media content". The media does not open.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for having written on the forum.

It could be possible that you’re trying to open or download a format file which isn’t supported from Windows Phone 8.

Another origin of this problem could be related with if the files you’re trying to download or open are protected from a password. This feature isn’t supported from windows phone.

I had the same problem for a long time on an HTC 8XT. I finally found a solution (for CDMA phones) in another forum. Go to: settings, system, cellular, Mode selection. Change the mode from "LTE and CDMA" to "CDMA". Then go to the messages and tap "Get media content now". Your message content will appear; you may also get some "phantom" messages from "Unknown" showing the error "4504:Message not found" (I suspect this is from your phone trying to get a duplicate message that was already downloaded). After you finish getting the message content, go back and change the mode back to "LTE and CDMA" to get back to 4G.

I have had five diff windows phones over the last few years and the pic msgs come in fine for a few weeks then I get the download media context msgs. I can turn the pho e off and back on and nothing. Turning WiFi off doesn't fix it either. Currently i have the htc 8xt and have had it not even a month and already its starting the download bs.
