Using Windows Phone 8, I am unable to open media content in text messages, says getting content but doesn't open

I received a text with the message "Get media content now". When I "click" on the message phone says "getting media content" then switches back to "get media content". The media does not open.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for having written on the forum.

It could be possible that you’re trying to open or download a format file which isn’t supported from Windows Phone 8.

Another origin of this problem could be related with if the files you’re trying to download or open are protected from a password. This feature isn’t supported from windows phone.

Hi Florence..you might have fixed the problem by now on your 520,I have the same phone,go into settings,then click on cellular and sim...make sure data is clicked on..MJ

I think there most definitely NEEDS TO BE a fix for that. This glitch is totally unacceptable performance and is NOT an issue one has with an Android or Apple product. Would you please FIX THIS WINDOWS PHONE?

I agree- my first smartphone-will be my last Windows Phone, due to incompatibility with some apps and this problem in particular. Went with Windows phone so I could link to my laptop calendar, but this is aggravating !

I have Sprint, HTX 8x, just updated to 8.1. Group and all media text worked fine before the 8.1 update, now I'm having the same issues on this thread. I tried the switch from LTE and CDMA to just CDMA, sort of worked in that I now got a message that the media isn't available anymore, instead of just the link not working. I'll keep testing, but this seems to be a bug with 8.1.

This seems to happen to me almost exclusively in group texts. I have Sprint and a HTC phone. Super frustrating. Think I should switch back to android!
