Microsoft 'Security' is stupid and annoying

Thanks for your reply. Ive had the same email address for 20some years and have had no problems. I cant see how anyone else was using the email addy I have without me knowing. Its not fastguy@hotmail.  If you googled that name, your finding other people. I dont worry about security at my address, nothing is ever on it thats of any use to anyone other than maybe my IP address. As far as logging in occasionally, even if I have to jump thru their hoops a few times a year, thats not a big deal. I know ive gone for months without using it. Its the having to spend an hour or two a month fighting to get access when I do want in. I know people can use email addys to spam or attempt to hack people using one that is not theirs. If the name comes up as in google, does not mean I used it.

Microsoft should take the responsibility to have someone official on these help forums, it shouldnt depend on volunteers like yourself. Either that or have a human person with a phone or email address that can help with problems. Almost all the websites I go to have a real working phone number for help. There are many issues they need to correct...one being unchecking the box for secondary security. Theres no point to having it checked or not if it dont work to turn it on or off. Thats like having a key to start a car that dont have a battery.

I see nothing in 'rules' about how often you have to sign in to stay active, and no way to contact anyone to see.

I have no doubt they either dont read them or dont care.

In general "Microsoft" does not monitor these "Microsoft Community Forums."  By far the majority of responses come from people who are not related in any way to Microsoft but who volunteer their time and whatever expertise/experience they may have in order to attempt to help others.  That includes, specifically, Cmdr Keene and me; we are not "Microsoft."

Your solution of automatically forwarding mail from your Hotmail address to another server is a good one, but I don't know how long a Hotmail account can go without any log in before MS decides that it is abandoned.

I am not at all an expert with regard to Hotmail, but if your account is continually getting locked, I suspect that someone else is trying to log in to your account.  After "too many" (whatever that is) failed attempts to log in, the account will be locked.  A Google search for "******@hotmail.com" suggests that at least 4 or 5 different people have used this email address over the years.

Heres a new twist. Hackers are wise to microsofts issue with this now. I just got 3 emails purportedly from microsoft "******@securenet.com" telling me to click their link in order to fix the problem. Wonder how many unwise people have clicked the link and gotten hacked BECAUSE of this anti hacking code system.....

Well I was able to finally get into my mail on June 6th after fighting with it for two hours again. I DID manage to uncheck the box that does the secondary security ****. Apparently it dont do anything, because soon as the 6th of July came, my mailbox was again locked. Im getting better, only took me an hour and half this time to get it working. I think I did find a permanent solution though since I go thru this every month. I now have ALL my email forwarded to a mail server that actually works with no problems. So I dont need hotmail except as a transfer point to another mailbox I dont have to fight with every month. Now I just have to wait till Aug 6, to see if it stops transfering mail along with locking me out. If it dont work, Im going to another mail service despite the hastle of changing my addy on everything I do online. Microsoft obviously dont give a **** about hearing complaints. They dont even offer a working number or email addy to contact them on their site or pages. All they do is give you a form to send them, which they must also choose to just ignore. Any response they give, IF any, is just instructions to do whatever that we already know dont work. In 5 months not one of their instructions to fix the issue has done anything except make me more aggravated.
