Microsoft 'Security' is stupid and annoying

Hi,

I don't know where to start. This is the second time I've been prompted to enter a 'code' that shall grant me access to my email even though I've only ever logged into it from the one address. I'd been forced to enter an email before which I'm sure is where the previous code was sent. What I don't understand is that if this is for my 'security' how was I able to change that email to something else completely - bounce it to a mate in across the globe who happened to be on the phone with me, who gave me the code to enter to access my own bloody email?

  1. Why does someone need to have an email to access an email? And how the **** does that work if you have 2 outlook addresses which require a code from the other locked outlook address? All your doing is pushing people to Gmail duh.
  2. When outlook prompted me saying "hey enter the code we sent you" What is the use of being able to change the email to anything you want? Is that secure or just 'Microsoft secure'?
  3. If I can change the email to whatever I want to get the code that's needed is this so much a security aspect for outlook or just an info grab so you can record peoples alternate email addresses?

DISCUSS

P.S. No, I'm not giving you my phone number, I have less security on my bank accounts and credit cards whose security is impeccable - its hotmail, get over it and let us just have our 'secret question'.

PEACE

Atleast it doesn't put us in a loop of verification... Instead of trying to put Google to shame. Help us solve the issue. Sorry for the harsh words... Its frustration...

Yes!!! Indeed annoying and very frustrating!!! ALL I WANT TO DO IS READ MY EMAIL MESSAGES! I cant even do that. I stuck with this security code nonsense and it wont let me through. I had to create another email address to try and replace my security info and that was a drag. After i had created the alternate email they asked me to submit my Microsoft email and then, nothing happen I'm still stuck in the same ANNOYING QUESTIONS of this big circle that doesn't even make sense to even have this. It told me Microsoft is not ready for me check back in a month. WHATTTTTT!!!!! They want me to check my email in a month. Such useless garbage so frustrated and mad at this. JUST GIVE US SECURITY QUESTIONS...JEEZ.

Well when I last was able to get in last month, I went to the security link and unchecked the secondary security setting like told. So much for that. Then just for backup I set forwarding to forward a copy of all emails to another email service. Thats been working out fine, but its an added hassle. If I need to get an email and I dont have time to screw with getting in Hotmail, I can get it all there. So the 6th of the month comes up and guess what, no access and I need to go to their link to send a code AGAIN thru another email service. Their default alternate email for me is the same one I cant get access too....duhhhhh. I get one to go in finally and they send me a code. It goes back to my email and tells me to enter that code. Then I get a message to get another code again. So after another month (6 months now) it takes me doing that over and over again 20 times over an hour and half to finally get in...with the warning that it will happen again next month the same way it has for last  6 months. I cant believe with the number of complaints, its taking 1/2 a year to figure out their idea sucks big time. If I ran my business this way, id been out of business. I fully expect the same thing again 9/6/2014. Id pay a small amount to them to do away with this. Im sure not going to spend a dime on a messed up system thats only a notch above stone age wall carving.

I fail to understand how this can be a Microsoft Forum. Quite obviously Microsoft has nor wants anything to do with it. Microsoft employees do not read it otherwise some action would be taken given the volume of complaints. Or is it a case of 'we are too big and important to listen to mere customers.'
