I was taken to slimware to update drivers. Is this legitimate? Or is there a better, safer way to upadate.

Hi,
You should obtain your Driver Software from your Computer or Hardware Manufacturer, not through 3rd party Programs or Windows Update.
Go to your Computer or Hardware Manufacture's website > Driver and Software Support Section > look up your Computer or Hardware Model number > then your Operating System > locate the correct Drivers > download and install them.

If suggestions above have not help you to get rid of this 'bogus' program, please try Revo Uninstaller and MBAM (as suggested in many related threads) which should take care of this PUP.
MBAM should detect it as 'PUP.Optional.DriverUpdate.A'.
This > 'Remove PUP.Optional.DriverUpdate.A virus Removal Guide' may be of assistance.
AdwCleaner (a trustworthy anti-adware scanner) may also be a good idea to search (and remove) for any other Adware or Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that might have been installed there with or without your knowledge or consent.
You need to remove - not only 'DriverUpdate' - but everything "SlimWare Utilities" that might have been installed (SlimCleaner, for instance?) there with or without your knowledge.

I have had this slimware utilities on my programs and features for over a year. Cannot get rid of it by deleting it. It will not delete.
When I was installing this product I was unable to complete the registration because it would not allow me to enter the last digit of the registration number that was sent to me. There was a toll free number that popped up for me to call in order to complete the registration; which I called.
Immediately the tech wanted log into my computer via LogMeIn and did.
Then is when my concern first began; the first thing he did was go to “msconfig” “User Account Control Settings” and set it to “Never notify.” (He did that so quickly I almost didn’t catch what he was doing.)
Next he did something so that the SlimCleanerPlus registration completed; ok so far.
Then I was briefly put on hold (maybe 5 seconds, with on hold music of some sort) then another person came on the phone.
This is when I became very suspicious that something is not as it should be. He immediately went to “msconfig” clicked on the “Services” tab and showed that a lot of services that were not running.
Immediately he began his very high pressure sales tactic of trying sell me a $199.00 add on service for taking care of the “services” that are not running.
I am not comfortable in having software on any of my computers from companies that employ “technicians” that are also very high pressure sales people utilizing scare tactics.
I am uninstalling the software.
Also, am getting notices about accepting windows 10. It is free but I wonder how much damage it will do to my computer.
