I need a windows 7 disc. My eMachine came without one.. Getting this error: "There is an error with your installation. Please reinstall the application"

I need a win 7 disc. Either full disc or restart disc. I cannot even start my computer. Continually get "Setup is starting services".  another window opes saying "Install Windows - There is an error with your installation. Please reinstall the application". This keeps coming up continually.

Hello Steve,

Assuming that you were able to burn the Windows 7 ISO file to a DVD, that is your "Boot Media".  What may be happening is that your first boot device - the device your computer boots from - is not your DVD drive.

To get around this, reboot your computer and as you do press and hold the F12 key. That will bring up a menu that will allow you to select the DVD burner (player) as your first boot device. Select that, insert your DVD, and press any key to start the installation process.

    I have a question. Could the DVD Drive on the computer we are working on be bad? The last time I ran the ISO Disk I got from you, I got this: ERROR: No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed.

    Would you send me the link to the ISO File again.

    The borrowed computer is so slow I am into hour 2 1/2 on scanning disk for Malware.

    I'm not sure which ISO file  / program you are referring to, so here is the most recent list of things I've sent you:

    If I've missed the one you want, just specify which one it is. And while your computer may be slow, I suspect the virus is particularly virulent. Try to hang in there. Keep me posted.

    Have finished running the Malware program. It found no malicious files. What could have happened to the4 drivers for my DVD Ram? I searched the 'device manager' again and it does not find the drivers. I searched the files on the computer and they are nowhere to be found. I searched the Web for drivers, and could not find them. The DVD Ram is an HL DT-ST DVD Ram GH 22NP20.

    I am getting really frustrated with repairing my eMachine. But I will hang in there with you, and try to repair it.

    Hello Steve,

    Sorry for the delay in responding, but the eMachines site was down last night, and I just got on there this morning. So, according to their site, your EL 1360G machine does have a DVD. To try and find drivers, go back to Device Manager (via Control Panel), then do the following:

    1. Left-click on the DVD drive, then right-click on the DVD drive that shows up and select Properties.
    2. That'll bring up a new window with a set of tabs across the top, click on the one that says Driver.
    3. Left-click on Driver details, which should show a windows driver for it.
    4. If it doesn't, left-click Update driver, then Search automatically, and you should be back in business.

    If that doesn't work, don't do anything but post back the exact error messages to me. If it does work, it means you have a usable DVD drive! Let me know what the results are, and what the results of the ISO download are (were you able to download the ISO successfully?). Basically, I'm asking for the status of things now. OK?
