Updates trying to install over and over again (KB2760411, KB2760588, and KB2760583)

These three updates are trying to be reinstalled over and over again.  Replicable on both PCs

The updates are trying to be install over and over again.  Every time I click "check for updates," there it appears again.

Update 1: I have tried restarting the PC.  Nothing.  I have also tried FixIt when trying to troubleshoot Windows Update errors.  Still nothing.  The FixIt simply "runs" till the end and then says "finish."  It did not offer to fix anything.

Windows 7 X64 SP1 with Norton Internet Security 2013 (version 20).

  • You may be repeatedly offered this update even though it is already installed. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.

Update 5: I did not have to do anything on my part (like re-install updates), so it's probably a detection issue on Microsoft's part.

    I have this same problem with KB2760411 and KB2760588.  After revisiting my posts about previous Update issues, I applied all the fixes I know - disabling and enabling Windows Update from the Command Prompt; manually uninstalling and reinstalling the updates.  Yet, Windows Update still detects them.  From this I learned that, under View Installed Updates, the Search feature does not locate the update without the KB in front of the number string.  Under XP I have the added problem of KB2810048 behaving the same way.  On this Windows 7, it occurred to me that these updates may work differently on this 64-bit system.

    I am having same issue with same 3 updates on 2 machines with office 2007/Win7 x64 Home Premium SP1 .

    The show successfully installed in update history, they show in installed updates, I even uninstalled them and reinstalled them and they still returned. I just selected to hide them.

    It's almost certainly a detection problem. Microsoft should reissue the update in a few days with a fix.

    I agree. In the mean time you can hide the update by right clicking the update in the update list and select "Hide update". That will prevent the update(s) from bugging you again. Then, in a couple of days check whether Microsoft has fixed the issue and then, if so, go to Windows Update > Restore hidden updates and unhide them. I have the same issue with the above mentioned three updates and for now I done what I have described as a workaround. As these updates are included in the list with installed updates I am not afraid that Office has not been patched.

    I hid the updates .. Im guessing that since its already in ( MULTIPLE TIMES TOO ) I should be ok ignoring the warning

    I'm thinking you're right, or maybe the patch isn't actually changing the version number of the fixed files (e.g. DLLs or EXEs) and so it's still detecting an unpatched version somehow? It's baffling to me. Hope to find out more info tomorrow during the webcast. I'm done wasting time on this for now.

    Same issue with all three MS Office 2007 updates in question on two PC's.  One is running Windows 8 x64 and the other XP SP3 x86.

    I tried uninstalling then reinstalling the updates after reboot on both machines.  Also tried Windows Update troubleshooter in Win 8 and ran disk cleanup to remove Windows Update cached files.  Didn't make any difference. The same three updates continue to be listed as needing to be downloaded and installed by Windows Update even though they appear as being successfully installed.

    Hello All, Yes I'm Getting the same Issues as Well, On Windows Vista 64 Ultimate, At First I Thought it was due to the fact that I use Tuneup Utilities and Have Disabled The Microsoft suite from running in the background unless I open one of the programs. However No this was not the Issue, and It seems that It is due to the Microsoft windows Update Detection, As I Also Tried Deleting the temp download file for these updates and not 2 min later they Popped up again. I also Thought My New Norton's 360 was the issue and Disabled it for a moment, and ran them again. and according to the update log they went in successfully. So As another Individual said just go to details of the update and Right click each one of the updates to hide them for the time being so they will not Bug you with the Pop-up. and Be sure to check back in a few day's I'm sure Microsoft will have a Fix. Thanks All
