Updates trying to install over and over again (KB2760411, KB2760588, and KB2760583)

These three updates are trying to be reinstalled over and over again.  Replicable on both PCs

  • KB2760583

The updates are trying to be install over and over again.  Every time I click "check for updates," there it appears again.

Update 1: I have tried restarting the PC.  Nothing.  I have also tried FixIt when trying to troubleshoot Windows Update errors.  Still nothing.  The FixIt simply "runs" till the end and then says "finish."  It did not offer to fix anything.

Windows 7 X64 SP1 with Norton Internet Security 2013 (version 20).

  • You may be repeatedly offered this update even though it is already installed. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.

Update 5: I did not have to do anything on my part (like re-install updates), so it's probably a detection issue on Microsoft's part.

    I too experienced the problem. Assuming that the install from automatic update did not install successfully, despite the indication that it did, I tried to "manually" install via the Windows Update website, which also indicated a successful install, but did NOT stop the notification that these 3 security updates were still required. Can I ****-u-me there was no harmed caused by installing them multiple times ?

    When I look in control panel/add-remove programs it only shows one installation. Again, I assume the last installation ?

    I had the same problem with Vista and I hide them for the time being.  I hope MS fixes this stupid error soon.

    Someone posted early on that this affected users with the Excel 2007 Viewer.  It also affects users with Access 2007.  I have Office 2010, but use at third-party software that requires Access 2007 and I'm affected by this update loop.

    Someone posted early on that this affected users with the Excel 2007 Viewer.  It also affects users with Access 2007.  I have Office 2010, but use at third-party software that requires Access 2007 and I'm affected by this update loop.

    It seems to randomly affect a few other, older applications too.  One of my repeating updates is for Excel 2003, but that may be because I have the Office 2007 compatibility pack.
