It's almost certainly a detection problem. Microsoft should reissue the update in a few days with a fix.
I agree. In the mean time you can hide the update by right clicking the update in the update list and select "Hide update". That will prevent the update(s) from bugging you again. Then, in a couple of days check whether Microsoft has fixed the issue and then, if so, go to Windows Update > Restore hidden updates and unhide them. I have the same issue with the above mentioned three updates and for now I done what I have described as a workaround. As these updates are included in the list with installed updates I am not afraid that Office has not been patched.
Agree. This is what I've done though I only have the 411 Office 2007 and 590 Excel Viewer 2007 that have repeatedly successfully updated themselves. I suspect too that once this problem is fixed MS will release new fixes while the ones now hidden will be rescinded and disappear.
I checked Control Panel | Programs and Features | View Installed Updates and found the two affecting me listed only once so I left them both alone.
When you say, "check whether MS has fixed the issue" where would this 'announcement' take place? To that end I hope maybe you mean they might reply to this thread that it is fixed? Not knowing what else to track I will track this thread.
Thank you.
