Updates trying to install over and over again (KB2760411, KB2760588, and KB2760583)

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with this issue, though it's with only 2 of the 3 you have listed.  I've installed over and over again, with not just the automatic updates thing telling me to do so, but on the webpage for getting the updates.  That page also tells me that I've "successfully installed" the items multiple times.

My OS is Windows XP, though it seems by reading, it doesn't matter what the OS is that people are using.

The updates are successfully installed, but they keep showing up in Windows Update as needing to be installed. I guess we could hide them if need be, but all three show as being successfully installed on my computer.

Yeah, it's a MS Update bug of some sort. After installing and re-installing them successfully a few times, both automatically and manually via Microsoft Updates, I now just hid them.

These may mainly be peer-to-peer site, they are constantly monitored, and MS has people that are supposed to ensure all questions are addressed within a certain time frame.  You see MS Engineer response all over the place.

Moreover, when a company like MS make a blunder like the one they just made, it is their responsibility to notify users that (i) they are aware of the problem (ii) working on a solution and should be releasing a fix within ...

A single post from anyone from MS would have reassured, quieted this and many other posters.  They could have even pinned it at the top of all of the Windows forums quite easily as they have done in the past with other notifications.

This reminds me yet again of the way they handled the screw up with KB2596856 and illustrates a serious internal quality control problem.

One can hope that MS releases some patch to the KB.

I have 2 of the updates ( KB 2760588 and KB 2760411) that have installed twice and kept reappearring so I hid them. I know this won't solve the problem, but I don't want to have them keep reinstalling and removing the check in front of the update doesn't solve the problem.

I am having the same problem with Security Update for Microsoft Office 2007 suites KB2760411 and KB2760588.  The update KB2760583 did not appear on my list of updates.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1 and Norton Internet Security v20

I am not using MS Office Suite.  I have a 60 day trial for MS Office that I have never activated.  If this were not a security update, I wouldn't be too concerned.  I do want the Updater to quit telling me to update it though.

I found a post suggesting updates be applied manually rather than automatcally.  I was already doing this, so it isn't a solution for me. 

I also saw a suggestion to report the error code for the failure.  The update history shows the two updates were successful.  As the updater does not record a failure to update there is no error code to report. 

Another suggestion was to manually select only one of the updates, then update and restart.  I have done this for both KB2760411 and KB2760588 in turn without success.  Both updates are still on the important update list.

Same with me, only dif, is I have Win7 professional x64, the Office XP suite with 2007 updates as they came along. Have done the same process without success. keep loading up with successful updates of those 2 important updates. from manual, shut down/restart and all, no luck , so far, on one computer, the other one is not an issue, it is Win7 Ultimate x64 otherwise software similar, all validated and genuine as well though that has spontaneously changed once or twice over the years for no particular reason i knew of, fixed with minor hassle, but still a hassle. not this time, so far, either.
