Updates trying to install over and over again (KB2760411, KB2760588, and KB2760583)

These three updates are trying to be reinstalled over and over again.  Replicable on both PCs

  • KB2760411
  • KB2760588
  • KB2760583

The updates are trying to be install over and over again.  Every time I click "check for updates," there it appears again.

Update 1: I have tried restarting the PC.  Nothing.  I have also tried FixIt when trying to troubleshoot Windows Update errors.  Still nothing.  The FixIt simply "runs" till the end and then says "finish."  It did not offer to fix anything.

Windows 7 X64 SP1 with Norton Internet Security 2013 (version 20).

Update 4: Microsoft has now offered a statement regarding this bug:

Known issues with this security update

  • You may be repeatedly offered this update even though it is already installed. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.

Update 5: I did not have to do anything on my part (like re-install updates), so it's probably a detection issue on Microsoft's part.

    Can someone at Microsoft escalate this? It's obviously a problem that affects a lot of people, me included.

    Aim for a single downloadable fix, and post its availability via this thread.  Thanks...

    In the meantime, all of us lived without these updates before they were made available, so how large is the risk of continuing to do so?

    Well as mentioned in the initial thread (which I have edited to link to other threads with the same issue), the media have covered the event so Microsoft knows about it.  They have even reached out to Microsoft for comments.

    Products causing the problem for me on Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 (32- and 64-bit):

    1. Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system
    2. Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2007

    After updating my laptop (a 3rd PC), I've ruled out the following two programs as being affected by this issue:

    • Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2
    • Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007

    I think its to do with the update itself not the PCs.

    Bonjour,

     Microsoft à des problème avec ces mise à jours, patiente ont quelque jours et je pense qu’ils auront réglé le problème ;

    En attendant désactivez les mises à jours automatiques pour ne plus être gêné
