Updates trying to install over and over again (KB2760411, KB2760588, and KB2760583)

These three updates are trying to be reinstalled over and over again.  Replicable on both PCs

The updates are trying to be install over and over again.  Every time I click "check for updates," there it appears again.

Update 1: I have tried restarting the PC.  Nothing.  I have also tried FixIt when trying to troubleshoot Windows Update errors.  Still nothing.  The FixIt simply "runs" till the end and then says "finish."  It did not offer to fix anything.

Windows 7 X64 SP1 with Norton Internet Security 2013 (version 20).

  • You may be repeatedly offered this update even though it is already installed. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.

Update 5: I did not have to do anything on my part (like re-install updates), so it's probably a detection issue on Microsoft's part.

    Assuming all three (3) updates are listed in Installed Updates, feel free to hide them & move on with your life.

    My problem with just hiding these is I have no confirmation from MS that these patches are truly remediating the vulnerabilities. Hiding the updates is like disabling the check engine light on your car. You may not have to look at the annoying glowing light anymore, but that doesn't mean the underlying problem is gone. Not until your mechanic says so, anyway. In this case your mechanic is Microsoft, and AFAIK they have yet to confirm these patches work as they intended.

    First of all, I'm very disappointed Microsoft did not sufficiently test the roll out of these updates.  I tried various Microsoft tools to fix the Windows Update issue here to no avail.  So far, I've successfully fixed one computer by reloading a recent disk image.  When this was done, the Windows Updates history data vanishes by design, so in other words it's blank.  I then checked for updates again and the three were properly applied to the OS with no more nagging "New updates are available."  Good Grief!

    I just Facebooked Microsoft about an update on the Patching status of Office Products.  It didn't last a second before it was removed.  Can't understand why they won't acknowledge there is a problem and immediately delete anything tweeted or facebooked about the issue.  Poor business.  Just admit the mistake and keep us in the loop.

    I don't think my post there lasted that long.

    Fools that delete customer posts.

    I'll look over the Technet site and see what I can find, sorry.  We do have WSUS set up but had it set to automatically approve critical updates, etc.  Our bad, I should have known better having seen this sort of thing happen time and again.
