Updates trying to install over and over again (KB2760411, KB2760588, and KB2760583)

These three updates are trying to be reinstalled over and over again.  Replicable on both PCs

The updates are trying to be install over and over again.  Every time I click "check for updates," there it appears again.

Update 1: I have tried restarting the PC.  Nothing.  I have also tried FixIt when trying to troubleshoot Windows Update errors.  Still nothing.  The FixIt simply "runs" till the end and then says "finish."  It did not offer to fix anything.

Windows 7 X64 SP1 with Norton Internet Security 2013 (version 20).

Known issues with this security update

  • You may be repeatedly offered this update even though it is already installed. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.

Update 5: I did not have to do anything on my part (like re-install updates), so it's probably a detection issue on Microsoft's part.

    Breath for a second.  It was a general comment.

    Yours is not the first propose work around.  Whether it be your technique (uninstalling all sorts of stuff) or others (involving reg hacks....), these measures are possibly risking much bigger issues, or causing usability problems (for some people the Microsoft Office Access database engine 2007 is critical component of certain programs they use) ...  For sure experienced IT personnel can give it a whirl (they have the capacity to fix anything they break - or reformat at the very least), but for the average user this could cause more problems than it fixes.

    Regardless of the version, I don't recommend to anyone to start uninstalling SP, hotfix, patches,.... whole applications, performing reg hacks, or god knows what else may have been advise here, or anywhere else.

    People need to wait for a proper fix from Microsoft.

    I agree.  As you mentioned, this is for Office 2010 users.  I have office 2003, and absolutely need the Office 2007 components in the compatibility pack to have access to the newer .docx and .xlsx formats, at least until I decide to upgrade to Office 2010.  But that won't happen until I buy my next PC, probably a year or two from now.

    I only took out the offending loopers and then hid them till a fix is  out. I followed the above link to softpedia where there was some report of a microsoft acknowledgment of the issue, at least.   I only have about 8 Office 2007 updates , one being a SP3 and did not have the Access database engine probably because it didnt exist in the 2003 suites i had in my different computers.  it was helpful and worth looking into.  Being offered as a temporary response, I felt secure in giving it a try even though i have a 64bit Professional version of XP office suite with the 2007 compatibility updates i just got automatically via the update program and all will come back regardless , so a I am sure i can not break anything by trying
