Updates trying to install over and over again (KB2760411, KB2760588, and KB2760583)

These three updates are trying to be reinstalled over and over again.  Replicable on both PCs

  • KB2760588
  • KB2760583

The updates are trying to be install over and over again.  Every time I click "check for updates," there it appears again.

Update 1: I have tried restarting the PC.  Nothing.  I have also tried FixIt when trying to troubleshoot Windows Update errors.  Still nothing.  The FixIt simply "runs" till the end and then says "finish."  It did not offer to fix anything.

Windows 7 X64 SP1 with Norton Internet Security 2013 (version 20).

Known issues with this security update

  • You may be repeatedly offered this update even though it is already installed. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.

Update 5: I did not have to do anything on my part (like re-install updates), so it's probably a detection issue on Microsoft's part.

    Where is the Fix???

    Has MS outsourced the resolution to this problem to Russia?

    Is this supposed to make me buy Office 2013?

    I am having the same problem with the repeat installs on the same MS Office 2007 updates. It is happening on my desktop and our laptop.  Both are running MS Windows 7 64bit.  My desktop has MS Office 2007 installed by the laptop does not.  I have shared files over our LAN, perhaps that is causing the shared update problem?  Not sure.  We will be waiting for a Fix to this.

    I am having this problem and do not have the Excel Standalone viewer but DO have MS Office Home and Student 2007.

    However I did notice that a (1) Microsoft Office PowerPoint Viewer 2007 (English) WAS INSTALLED TODAY 9/12/13 along with a (2) Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system.

    After the installation of the above 2 updates, I still have "updates" pending for KB2760588 (2007 office suites) KB2760583 (2007 office Excel) and KB2760411 (2007 suites).  I stupidly installed them over and over again because I was not paying attention. Now I have to remove them...but I will wait until MS releases the resolution update.

    Just FYI I know there is no solution at this time.

    I have turned off my windows update because it won't stop trying to install kb2810048, kb2760411, kb2760588. FIX IT.
