Updates trying to install over and over again (KB2760411, KB2760588, and KB2760583)

These three updates are trying to be reinstalled over and over again.  Replicable on both PCs

  • KB2760583

The updates are trying to be install over and over again.  Every time I click "check for updates," there it appears again.

Update 1: I have tried restarting the PC.  Nothing.  I have also tried FixIt when trying to troubleshoot Windows Update errors.  Still nothing.  The FixIt simply "runs" till the end and then says "finish."  It did not offer to fix anything.

Windows 7 X64 SP1 with Norton Internet Security 2013 (version 20).

Known issues with this security update

  • You may be repeatedly offered this update even though it is already installed. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.

Update 5: I did not have to do anything on my part (like re-install updates), so it's probably a detection issue on Microsoft's part.

    BTW you can hide updates you don't want this same way, such as Bing Bar. UGH

     

    Or Microsoft Search 4.0 (Gaaarrgh!)

    If you are reading this you probably are having this problem.  Fix it yourself so these 3 updates wont bother you again, then follow up with a visit here to see if it's fixed.

    Get your list of PENDING updates. Right click each of these 3 and click HIDE update.

    It will stop bothering you. (You can even forget about it after this, you wont be bothered).

    Then make sure you check back on the last page of these posts and see if it has been resolved. If it appears to be resolved, work your way BACKWARD through these messages to find which one is the solution. 

    That is IF MS doesn't just fix it for us, which I certainly hope they do.

    Give MS a little time to work this out. It isn't happening to everyone, but obviously it is happening to a whole lot of us. They might know why it's happening by now, and the fix is on it's way :)

    I have MANY copies of these updates installed as I thought at first they were supposed to be installed and others were using my computer who installed the updates too.  When I tried to uninstall them using the uninstall feature from the control panel, they all have different numbers so that it would be difficult to remove them using the control panel.

    Would a restore do the job?

    Nice to know i'm not alone!   I am one of those not technically savvy people.   I am having the exact same problem.   Any indication yet when this will be fixed?   I havent read to the bottom of this thread but it appears to be an issue only Microsoft can fix.   Is it worth doing Loafer(2) suggestion as a workaround or should i just put up with the situation until its sorted?   Its annoying and slowing things up

    Any advice?
