Updates trying to install over and over again (KB2760411, KB2760588, and KB2760583)

These three updates are trying to be reinstalled over and over again.  Replicable on both PCs

The updates are trying to be install over and over again.  Every time I click "check for updates," there it appears again.

Update 1: I have tried restarting the PC.  Nothing.  I have also tried FixIt when trying to troubleshoot Windows Update errors.  Still nothing.  The FixIt simply "runs" till the end and then says "finish."  It did not offer to fix anything.

Windows 7 X64 SP1 with Norton Internet Security 2013 (version 20).

Known issues with this security update

  • You may be repeatedly offered this update even though it is already installed. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.

Update 5: I did not have to do anything on my part (like re-install updates), so it's probably a detection issue on Microsoft's part.

    I am trying to get an answer to this annoying problem, but this useless system has just given me the opportunity to reply to a problem to which I am trying to find an answer.  It is now 6 October and Microsoft is still churing out repeat updates and using up my data allowance.  Is there any point is suing them?

    I had this same issue, just not with these specific updates. It may be an uncommon situation, but I figure it might be useful to others (since this is one of the first results on search engines).

    I had a load of Office updates that kept installing over and over. Make sure those updates actually apply to your system. One update was for InfoPath, which I know I didn't have. InfoPath only exists for Office Pro Plus, while I had Standard installed. It was referring to a previous installation of Pro Plus on the machine. I removed every instance of Pro Plus in the Registry, and Windows Update performed normally again. Inapplicable updates will notthrow an error.

    Otherwise, check C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log. Also try installing the updates manually. Installing one of the updates manually lead me to finding the solution. If anything, the log was misleading as it told me the following:

    Success Content Install Installation Successful: Windows successfully installed the following update: Security Update for Microsoft InfoPath 2010 (KB2510065), 64-Bit Edition
