Updates trying to install over and over again (KB2760411, KB2760588, and KB2760583)

These three updates are trying to be reinstalled over and over again.  Replicable on both PCs

The updates are trying to be install over and over again.  Every time I click "check for updates," there it appears again.

Update 1: I have tried restarting the PC.  Nothing.  I have also tried FixIt when trying to troubleshoot Windows Update errors.  Still nothing.  The FixIt simply "runs" till the end and then says "finish."  It did not offer to fix anything.

Windows 7 X64 SP1 with Norton Internet Security 2013 (version 20).

  • You may be repeatedly offered this update even though it is already installed. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.

Update 5: I did not have to do anything on my part (like re-install updates), so it's probably a detection issue on Microsoft's part.

    My issue is that I have the full suite of Office 2007 and do not want to uninstall all of it.

    I have found a workaround for this problem by uninstalling the Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system (which was the only Office 2007 product on my system). The problematic updates are no longer being offered by Windows Update and are no longer listed under Restore hidden updates. However, they are shown as being installed in View update history.

    The updates are successfully installed, but they keep showing up in Windows Update as needing to be installed. I guess we could hide them if need be, but all three show as being successfully installed on my computer.

    II have the same problem. Here is a copy of one of those patch history for office 2007:

    Yeah I've "Successfully"installed hem four times.  I can't imagine what is happening to those who set their Important Updates to automatically install.   I've hidden them for now, but since they are listed  as having been installed four times how do I clear that up?

    Someone posted early on that this affected users with the Excel 2007 Viewer.  It also affects users with Access 2007.  I have Office 2010, but use at third-party software that requires Access 2007 and I'm affected by this update loop.

    It seems to randomly affect a few other, older applications too.  One of my repeating updates is for Excel 2003, but that may be because I have the Office 2007 compatibility pack.
