Updates trying to install over and over again (KB2760411, KB2760588, and KB2760583)

These three updates are trying to be reinstalled over and over again.  Replicable on both PCs

  • KB2760583

The updates are trying to be install over and over again.  Every time I click "check for updates," there it appears again.

Update 1: I have tried restarting the PC.  Nothing.  I have also tried FixIt when trying to troubleshoot Windows Update errors.  Still nothing.  The FixIt simply "runs" till the end and then says "finish."  It did not offer to fix anything.

Windows 7 X64 SP1 with Norton Internet Security 2013 (version 20).

Known issues with this security update

  • You may be repeatedly offered this update even though it is already installed. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.

Update 5: I did not have to do anything on my part (like re-install updates), so it's probably a detection issue on Microsoft's part.

    I have turned off my windows update because it won't stop trying to install kb2810048, kb2760411, kb2760588. FIX IT.

    Using Windows XP Media Center Edition SP3.   KB2760411 and KB2760588 are repeatedly offered as new updates after I install them.   Additionally, I DO NOT have Windows Office 2007!   I still use Office 2000 Pro - excellent for my needs.   Why do you even offer updates to Office 2007 when I have never installed it and it is NOT on my system?  

    Even BelArc Advisor only reports Office 2000!   So why is an update for a program I do not have being PUSHED out to me?

    The updates are successfully installed, but they keep showing up in Windows Update as needing to be installed. I guess we could hide them if need be, but all three show as being successfully installed on my computer.

    Updates '588' and '411' are constantly trying to update but '583' isn't doing it. Maybe its just a matter of time. I downloaded the 'fix-it' app from MS. After it completed doing what it does (it doesn't tell you what it "fixed" whether you use the automatic or manual modes) the update icon disappeared in the task tray for a few moments then came right back. I wonder if has worked for anyone.  I commend you Thu Win for all the info you dug up. I hope this isn't the norm, to have to dig up a ton of info in order for Microsoft to acknowledge when something doesn't work right.
