Clock on windows 8 is wrong time, i tried setting to internet time but its still wrong, think theres a time clock bug, anyone have same problem for windows 8 and know how to fix it?

I had this problem when I got my computer.  I tried the above first, but that failed.  Try clicking on the time in the lower right corner of your screen; a window should pop up and you should be able to set the correct time there.

    If you are using Ubuntu in dual boot, that may be causing the problem. Ubuntu, by default, assumes that the hardware clock is set to UTC timezone. Windows assumes it is set to local time.

     

    Easiest way to fix this is to edit your default settings in Ubuntu by editing the /etc/default/rcS  file in terminal. You will find a setting that says "assume BIOS time as"...with the parameter UTC set to yes. Change this setting to UTC=no. Save and close the file.

     

    Make sure you reset the clock in Ubuntu and Windows after you have done this and also ensure that the timezones, location settings match in both OS.

    I experienced the same issue. Dual boot machine with Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu 13.10. Ubuntu works well and never had any problems with the clock before,it still works ok. Ever since i downgraded from Window 7 Ultimate to Windows 8 Pro i started having problems with the clock,it always reads 5 hours too early, i checked and rechecked settings to no avail, i erased the "cmos-real time clock" from services and reinstalled it,same thing. I turn my machine on again in two or three days and there it is,5 hours earlier than it should be. The solution to this annoying problem was very simple,though....i deleted both the Windows partion and the system reserve, i modified the Boot-Up menu so i don't see Windows OS listed anymore. Using G-parted i merged the partitions together and now i have a huge hard drive available.....piece of advise..."Don't use Windows 8". Anybody out there with broken apps on Windows 8?
