I have windows 7, and for the past few months I am unable to update windows.

Windows update is stuck at downloading 0kb 0% and after viewing all the similar posts around the web regarding this problem I still cant fix it, even after trying everything (stopping and restarting the service, disabling av and firewall, delete softwaredistribute folder and so on...).

Im desperate, please help.

None of that other stuff worked for me either. What I had to end up doing was only do 7-10 updates at a time and it worked right away for me. Hope that helps know its not much

I have been an ardent supporter of Microsoft.  I fought with people who supported Apple.

But now "My experience forces me to believe it is Microsoft policy towards windows updates".  I clean reinstall windows 7  home premium on my new hard drive.   I started Windows update right after clean install.  For hours no available updates appeared.   I got tired and left the computer alone.  Around midnight I checked again same thing no  success.  It was still checking for updates.   Finally I went to bed leaving computer running.  Next morning I checked 200+ updates were available and I downloaded and installed them successfully.   I GAVE THIS ADVICE TO FEW FRIENDS, and They ALL HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE

I am seriously thinking to leave Microsoft and go to apple

well.same problem here but...tried to install an update of 780mb...after endlessly waiting...of 10-15 minutes....it started to download...stucked at 90% for 5 minutes then finished....so...it's no problem i suppose...just...wait...and before that i recommend tu run a fix of windows and background updates from here

This worked for me! After I removed all the files I tried the update again. Initially it showed that I have never performed an update, then after about 10 minutes it updated the dates and created a restore point. Finally after about an hour all the updates installed correctly and I was asked to reboot. After the reboot everything works correctly.

    Thanks!
