Windows 7 - Windows update stuck at 0kb 0%

You've reached the right forum for your question. As I understand, you receive error Windows update stuck at 0%.

1. Did you make any changes on the computer prior to the issue?
2. Which update are you trying to download?
3. Where are you trying to download the update from?
4. Which anti-virus software is installed on the computer?

Method 2:

Some times security software installed on the computer conflicts with the downloading and installation of updates on the computer.

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect the computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable the antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. You may download & install the updates manually from the Microsoft Download Center.

This worked, except I didn't have to do a restart.  It must have been able to kill whatever service was blocking windows updates from downloading.
