Windows 7 - Windows update stuck at 0kb 0%

I have windows 7, and for the past few months I am unable to update windows.

Windows update is stuck at downloading 0kb 0% and after viewing all the similar posts around the web regarding this problem I still cant fix it, even after trying everything (stopping and restarting the service, disabling av and firewall, delete softwaredistribute folder and so on...).

Im desperate, please help.

Yes, this happens quite a lot. The best thing to do to sort this problem out is not to worry about their stupid non working MS Update. You can download their dodgy updates manually if u must & do away with their glitchy service.

Most of their updates are slowing win 7 & making it less reliable than it was before windows 10 was released. Maybe they think you will get sick of windows 7 then give up & install windows 10.

When you noticed that Win update is stuck at checking for updates with 0% or when you're trying to update Win 7 to Win 10 and got the same issue - just go to Services (do not close update window) and Stop Windows update service (not restart).

You should now get all the updates.

About a week ago, I decided to follow someone's suggestion that I turn on Automatic Updates. I did. I also configured each machine to allow monitor to sleep, but for hard drive and OS to NEVER sleep or go into hibernation.

After two or three days, after a shutdown and boot cycle, during the initial boot phase, suddenly Windows informed me that updates were being installed..., 

Yesterday, on one of them, I ran manual updates as usual, and low and behold, this time it actually worked immediately.

After trying lots of other things, this is what worked for me.  Turn on automatic updates, wait a few days, and all is well again.  I can now do manual updates also.  Thanks!

I had the same issue. I suggest that you do not do some of the very complicated configuration changes that are on this post.  I almost followed some of those suggestions. I am glad I did not. I am very sure my problems would be worse. Enclosed is a picture of the one box you need to uncheck in Internet Explorer 11. You will find a more detailed explanation of this issue in this forum. It worked for me. Hope it works for you.

I can not update window 7 64 bit, working and working looking for update I left my computer 2 days but never get update, before was good imminently get update but not know. any one knows right way solve this problem?

Also I have problem update Microsoft security Essential,
