Windows 8 continously loses wifi connection

Hi,

I am about to completely lose my wits with this. We all know Windows 8 is not user friendly by a long shot. In the beginneing I thought it was my brand new way too expensive Asus Zenbook that was the problem. I have this computer:

ASUS ZENBOOK U500VZ 15.6" WQHD+

GeForce GT650 2GB,Core i7-3632QM,8GB RAM,2x256GB SSD,Windows 8

It runs Windows 8.

Since I got it it has had a problem with dropping the wifi connection.

The steps taken to resolve it are:

Change settings in Power Plans

Changed adapter settings under "Power Management"

Run -> ipconfig /flushdns

All other laptops and iPads and iPhones running on the routers are fine. Problems persist on OTHER wifi networks as well, and from searching the web I can see this is a COMMON problem with Windows 8. HOW to fix this? Does Microsoft NOT realise it's customers would like to be able to use the internet without losing connectivity...

    Omg, NO, I have not moved on. Am SO still on this FRIGGIN thread! I still have my Asus, and COUNTLESS PEOPLE have looked at my issue. I'm travelling from Europe to Asia soon, and if I can be bothered bringing this craptop with me, I will take it to an Asus certified repairshop in Bangkok, Manila or Bali. I hate windows to the point where I have surrendered and almost don't care anymore. The people who have looked at my pc all work in the computing business and have yet to figure it out. I have also contemplated selling my laptop and getting a Mac. I really don't want to cross over to the enemy. But Microsoft is making it so hard!!! I have not been able to send it in for repair in Norway, because 1) my job depends on having this confounded thing available 24/7 and 2) Norwegian customer service sucks, and Asus' associated repairshop here has a rumor of wrecking more than they fix, anyways.

    Some tech magazine should run an article on this!

    I never managed to find a permanent solution from any mentioned. Tried on various different networks on which my Windows 7 PC, Android phone, and iPad all worked fine. I actually gave up eventually and bought a mac mini. Never had any problems.

    btw, just curious, are there any more users apart from Yoplait and me where none of the proposed fixes in this thread work?

    Just trying to get a feel if we're a rarity or if it is really a under-reported problem because enabling and disabling airplane mode kind of fixes the problem so people don't bother reporting the issue...

    So, disgruntled users with these connectivity issues UNITE! Let them know this is not a marginal issue so they start to take this seriously! 

    (...now I can only hope this really isn't a marginal issue and I'm just unlucky...:)

    I have the same problem Wireless network randomly drop. Only solution connect the network again. This is so annoying!!!!!! I have tested it over 100 different wireless networks. I read all that thread and there is still no solution?  Really Disappointing with windows 8.1

    yup...

    I'm still using the "quick fix" enabling and disabling airplane mode...

    Very very annoying and quite remarkable it's still not fixed.

    @Yoplait(2) are you still following this thread?, or have you moved on?... to Apple maybe? ;)
