Windows 8 continously loses wifi connection

This has to be absolutely the most ridiculous issue I have encountered.  I have bought a new Toshiba laptop on friday for an employee at the office.   Started installing software and continually ran into this issue again and again, and evidently thought there was something wrong with the computer.  I ended up taking back to stock (after wasting time with Windows Updates) only to have the issue start again quite quickly.

I decided that I could not give that computer to an employee who would constantly be bugging me saying they could not work because the computer could not access the internet or even worse our own network.

Therefore I packed it back, and returned it as a defective unit to the store, and ended up buying another computer in its place (this time an HP unit), which was $500 more expensive than the Toshiba, only because it was the only one they had which seemed at least better than the Toshiba unit.

I come back in, unpack the HP, fire it up only to find that it has the exact same problem !!!!  Thanks, Microsoft, you just made me spend $500 that I did not need to spend, not to mention all the wasted time (my time) wasted trying to make the computer work, instead of actually working myself on the things that I needed to do (are you going to pay me for the 3 wasted days of MY time ??  I would guess not.

I only need to have this sort of thing happen ever so often to give me a reminder of why an Apple computer that costs 3 times as much as a PC is actually much less expensive than a PC.  If I factor in the wasted time that I have put into this, the sleep depravation trying once and again to make it work, and the level of frustration involved, then the Apple is definitely way cheaper.

If only the employee would be willing to learn to use a Mac, then I would be ok, but until that happens I will have no option but to keep putting up with this kind of ridiculousness.

Microsoft, where do I send you the bill ????

Why have Microsoft consistently failed to admit they have a huge problem with Windows 8 losing internet connectivity? This bollocks about the issue lying elsewhere is so annoying............ You run their troubleshooter application and it resolves the issue in the Windows 8 software. BUG fix it now!!!!!

Hi everyone. I bought a new laptop around 9 months ago. Everything was fine for a few weeks, then this problem started. Everything is up-dated, all help on here has been followed, and our company tech has tried to find a solution. NOTHING HAS WORKED!!!!!

I have taken my computer back to factory settings, and refused all up-dates, except security ones, since then. It seems to be much better than it was, and can keep a connection for a few hours at least, and sometimes it will work for days without going to "limited".

It is obviously a problem which occurs after an update from Windows, and no doubt it will miraculously sort itself after another update in the future. Our company tech has been running one of his computers, wit Win 8 installed, totally on wifi since I told him of the problem, and he has had no disconnections or "limited" moments. The only difference between myself and him is that he is a Beta tester for Windows. I find this very strange, but obviously Windows do not want one of their testers reporting problems with Win 8. Maybe he gets different updates to us normal mortals?????

I can manage without using my new laptop as have a work computer with Windows 7. Seems Windows have followed the Vista model for launch with Windows 8 being far from ready for laptops. I guess it's been developed totally for mobile devices and then chucked on everything else. I'm just hoping somewhere in the next few updates they sort this problem. Thanks for the help if I come up with anything else I'll let you know but can't face it at the minute.

I´m really disappointed with Windows 8 and this problem. It happens here 2 and 3 times a day, a really annoying problem and seens like Microsoft gives no help on solving it. Still using it because I need windows for a project.

By the way: I´m not sure if it´s related but I noticed this problem usually happens when I have heavy traffic on main server (the master DNS of the network), in a few time even the mac and linux machines fails on name resolution *but* they recover from the problem graciouslly, only the windows 8 dies and need a reboot (some times a router reboot solves the problem too).
