Though I hate necroing dead threads, this question gets to the heart of why Windows Phones aren't gaining significant traction in the marketplace. The ability to backup SMS and MMS messages are a big deal to many folks, and at the moment there is only one
option if you require this feature: Android.
I love Windows Phones. They have a simplicity and elegance that can't be found elsewhere. But until Microsoft adds this feature, along with the ability to access and read, save and restore my messages from the cloud or from my Outlook.com or Gmail account
I can't even consider purchasing one. My business life and private life are dependant on this capability.
I agree. This is a major flaw with Win Phones. How can they expect people to move from one system to another when there is no way to "move". Text messages are simple silly little text files. They are easy to back up/restore.
Maybe Microsoft should look at how big the texting market is when they want to be in the phone business? People have "unlimited plans" because 1000 messages aren't enough: And MS just say (and I paraphrase) "nope - not going to happen".
What is the policy or business decision behind the "not possible" answers I've seen in several threads here? There certainly can't be a technical challenge?
I would have bought a new Nokia today if there was a solution...
