Hi I am unable to get out of this aptio setup utility screen so that I can go to my start menu

my computer is a ASUS R503U computer and I can't get off of this utilities screen and it won't go back to my start menu. Can anyone help please thanks

This is what worked from me.  You do this from within the aptio screen:

followed the steps given in the tomshardware reference above, from db2k9:

"Ok so I figured it out guys, it was kind of silly but here we go.

So this system is sort of a hybrid legacy and EUFI system, and there a few steps I needed to take to get it to recognize devices that aren't the original HDD

First I had to the Security Options of the BIOS and disable "Secure Boot"

[then you reboot, and it comes back to the aptio screen.  So then you do the next step]

After that go to the Boot section of the BIOS and

  • Disable Fastboot
  • Enabled CSM (Compatibility Support Module)

[then you reboot again, and it should get through the aptio piece, if you even see it]

  • This will allow the BIOS to see other bootable drives (For some reason it keep on being disable when I would restart, so that's why I couldn't see my SSD)

[the rest below didn't apply to me, I'm using Win 8.1, and there's only the one SSD]

I have a beautiful ASUS TAICHI, that I picked up as a refurbed return from MicroCenter, and since it had no bloatware or recovery partition on the SSD, I think they either replaced the original or reformatted it.  When it hit the repeating aptio screen, I was ready to take it back, until I found the above.  It worked for me, so give it a try.

    As per the description I see that you are unable to come out of the setup utility screen in Windows 7.

    To help you better, please answer this question:

    1.      What happens when you try to come out of the utility screen?

    2.      Do you receive any error message?

    3.      Did you update the BIOS firmware?

    4.      Are you able to boot on the desktop?

    I would suggest you to follow the methods provided to fix the issue:

    Method 1: Start your computer in safe mode

    If the issue does not persist, perform clean boot.

    Method 2: Clean Boot

    Perform clean boot to identify if any 3rd party service is causing this issue:

    Hello! I have the same problem.

    I'm using an ASUS laptop with Windows 8 and the Aptio Utility thing keeps popping up,when I try to exit it makes me put my password in again and the Aptio window pops up,and so on,everytime I try to exit.

    This problem first started when I received an error message just as I was shutting my laptop down.

    And me. Exactly the same. And i have seen the same question over and over all over google with other people having the same problem, but i'm not finding ANY useful answers!! There is obviously a fault with your newer laptops and they need to be recalled. I am extremely disappointed with this. I too have an ASUS windows 8 laptop. Now it is useless and i may have to get a new one and set it up all over again. Great!

    I have the same problem as well! I bought the laptop in January in taiwan. Yesterday, the computer did not respond to anything anymore, so I shut it down and restarted it. Next thing I know, it goes straight to the Aptio Setup Utility and doesn't exit. I just came from a trip and all my pictures are on the computer. I guess I lost them all. I looked on the Internet for solutions, but everyone says it is a hardware problem and it needs to go to service. I read so many stories on the Internet from people who have the same problem! Something is wrong with the system.
