bsod need help 0x8e

I have a lenovo r61i laptop windows xp professional service pack 3 intel pentium dual cpu t2310 @ 1.46ghz x2.  I had this problem before and somehow i fixed it i think i done a bios update this time it dosent work i just get blue screen with following stop code: 0x8e (0xc05, 0x80637f53, 0xa3fd299c,0x0) I have tried my memory modules by taking them out trying one at time and same problem i could get into safe mode with networking but now the networking will not work just safe mode i also tried selective startup and diagnostic startup still bsod used system restore it worked but then when i shut down laptop and went to use it again same thing again. can find loads info on code 8e but dont seem to help so i wrote the full code down as i dont know how to read these codes.  i have no xp cd.  sometimes i can get past bsod and get plain blue screen and get task manager up and i try new task explorer.exe but then bsod again

    Did you change the bootdisk to that cd / then boot from it??

    i have dome malware scan and guy from this forum has done trojan remover and some other program. i have put my disc in tried repair it diddnt work so selected fresh install it run through then it went to restart and screen comes up with microsoft windows xp please wait it stuck there for last hour

    The computer is blue screening when put under a load. i.e. when you start Windows explorer in normal mode. That is a good indication you are dealing with a hardware issue. In fact, the stop code 0x8e is most often caused by failing ram, but there are other causes such as leaking capacitors on the motherboard, failing psu or even some forms of malware. Stop codes are generated to help diagnose the cause of an issue. No stop code is ever exact. In other words, each can be caused by one or more conditions when said condition(s) are present. They are designed to give the tech a general idea of where to begin looking  potential issues. Most successful resolutions are accomplished when predicated upon the process of elimination. This means you don't jump from fix to fix without first eliminating other fixes completely. My advice remains the same. Scan for malware following the instructions I gave you previously.

    It looks like somebody has been tampering with your Paging File settings ,but it still looks like it should work okay for the moment. 

    Is there nothing under Page File Space?  Something like:

    Page File Space    5.22 GB

    Page File    C:\pagefile.sys

    To be sure that there is not a problem creating files in the minidump folder, see if you can use something like Notepad or WordPad to create a simple text file (something like test.txt) and successfully save the file in this folder:

    c:\windows\minidump

    If the folder does not exist, create it - even though XP should create it on a crash if it needs to.

    If you are getting anything to do with ...00024 errors, you should run a chkdsk with error correction  (chkdsk  /r) from the XP Recovery Console or from a Hiren's boot CD to be sure your NT File System (NTFS) is not afflicted.  If it is afflicted, that could be a reason files can't be created/saved in the minidump folder.
