bsod need help 0x8e

I have a lenovo r61i laptop windows xp professional service pack 3 intel pentium dual cpu t2310 @ 1.46ghz x2.  I had this problem before and somehow i fixed it i think i done a bios update this time it dosent work i just get blue screen with following stop code: 0x8e (0xc05, 0x80637f53, 0xa3fd299c,0x0) I have tried my memory modules by taking them out trying one at time and same problem i could get into safe mode with networking but now the networking will not work just safe mode i also tried selective startup and diagnostic startup still bsod used system restore it worked but then when i shut down laptop and went to use it again same thing again. can find loads info on code 8e but dont seem to help so i wrote the full code down as i dont know how to read these codes.  i have no xp cd.  sometimes i can get past bsod and get plain blue screen and get task manager up and i try new task explorer.exe but then bsod again

    I wouldn't replace the hard drive if it were me. You're jumping around from fix to fix and have no real idea what the issue is. Hard drives don't work half way. They either work or they don't. I think your issue is most likely failing ram. Regardless, you don't just go replacing components without know what the issue is. They make test for this type deal. Test for ram, test for hard drives, test for video cards. It's your computer and you can, of course, do as you wish. But, you're taking shots in the dark trying to resolve this. You went from a computer that would at least boot in safe mode to one that will not boot into any mode at all.

    Could be a dodgy recovery cd. Unless the hdd has probs, and the install is finding the corrupt sectors on it and its having probs installing XP

    Next thing I would do, is replace the hdd. See if it works then

    yes went through the install then it reboots at end but it stuck on the screen i mentioned in last message
