"application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware"

recently every time i use a program that use my gpu( I have optimus technology so it switch when needed etc...) I get the error message " application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware", the internet does not seem to be very helpful about this problem, does anybody know what causes it/how i can fix it ????

    problem is it can be so many things that cause this problem its not even funny, If i bought a brand new PC and it had issues let them fix it, or take it back. i have wasted thousands of dollars in time on this and similar issues.

    You dont trouble shoot a brand new computer, unless your a sucker. you take it back, and let them fix it or give you a new one.

    What if It wasn't a brand new PC? That is just taking the easy way out. You don't even know if it could be a simple issue to fix or problematic. I have had the same issue and it was just a bad driver.

    So I believe I fixed this issue after dealing with it for ~2 weeks and going through frustrated googling. I have an NVIDIA 860m gtx and im not sure if it's different for GUI's. It's only been about 6 hours tho, so this could be a temporary fix. First off, you need to go into control panel, click hardware and sound, and go to NVIDIA control panel. Go to "Adjust image settings" and move the slider either to the middle or all the way to the left. This basically helps your GUI focus less on the quality of the game and more on keeping it stable. It will slightIy lower the quality of edges in your games, but I'd rather play it than for it to look good. I don't know if this helped at all, but while experimenting I also went to the PhysX tab there and set my PhysX processor to my NVIDIA graphics card. Hopes this helps you and me get rid of this **** problem no one else has looked into fixing!

    Most of the time people dont end up on these lists until they have tried numerous things off the net, which Im sure he did, like everyone on here. besides unless you cant read, he said it was NEW.

    And yes take the easy way out, dont waste your time fixing a defective NEW product,unless like you say take a hour or 2 and try to fix it yourself, when that fails, take it back.

    The manufacturers pay out money from the profits they raped you for to pay for warranties, use them.

    I have seen the above related problem relate to entire PCs being rebuilt,and tons of hours wasted, oh wait I have done it.

    I had the same issue in a machine after a year of software and hardware swapping and trading, multiple operating systems, it turned out to be ram that would run just fine in Windows XP, and all flavors of Linux, but had this issue in windows 7 and above. All hi end memory tests tested as ram good, no faults. but after changing out the ram to increase its amount, issue gone, put the ram back in, issue back.

    This particular error cost me over a year of swearing and a entire system rebuild.

    If you feel my tech skills to be the issue once I couldnt figure it out. I took it to 2 different computer stores and they couldn't find the issue either :P  

    When you have been in computers and a computer tech as long as I have (since DOS 3.0)I have learned, new PC, got issues, try to fix it within a reasonable amount of time(couple hours), if not, then take it back.

    Dont you pay for that time, let the manufacturer pay for that time.
