"application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware"

I really don't think it is the graphics driver otherwise other apps and games would suffer the same problem. I only have the error whilst playing farcry 4, no other game crashes with the same error.

the other thing I've noticed is that there is no error code(although the window displaying the messages goes off so fast it has taken me 4-5 crashes to read it all.

there are always bugs in windows os and I trust NVidia with my £600 g.card and feel win 7 wasn't broken and didn't need replacing .

wo is me again. win 8,,,,win 8.1- win 10, would be nice, Microsoft to please there customers who have stuck by them from windows 3.1. I would have been much happier with windows 7.1 revised.

I have struggled myself with the persistant error but only playing farcry4. my best result has been restarting computer then selecting steam from application menu with a right click and run as administrator.  It seems to work in GeForce experience ran as admin.

my opinion is that it's a windows 10 problem which they may or may not fix at some point

I remember windows 7 doing strange things when that was first installed but always debugged very quick and efficiently.

My system was STABLE for many years but since I recently performed a format and a system reinstall, errors started popping.

This make me believe that it might be a software error and specifically related to newer updates in Windows 10.

I've noticed that if I try some set of fixes I got: 'Driver stop responding' error, and if I try another set of fixes I get: 'Application blocked' error instead.

Tried so far:

• Clear CMOS (Did nothing)
• Flash and Update BIOS (Did nothing but it was good anyways)
• Clean MB/GPU/CPU (Lowers Temps)
• Play with TdrLevel (3 is more stable than 8)
• Wipe Graphic Drivers in safe mode 
• Use Microsoft video drivers instead (Less stable)
• Use AMD's latest video drivers (More stable)
• Disable Firewall (More stable)
• Change GPU PCIE Slot (More stable)
• Downclock GPU (Did nothing)
• Downclock CPU (More stable)
• Disable windows page file (Decrease occurrence of errors)

Will try:

• Use HDMI instead of Mini-DisplayPort (System was stable for long years using HDMI)
• Test Memory Sticks
• Reinstall System

Unfortunately, I've not found any information on a driver fix outside of the MS Intel driver workaround above. If you have a graphics card that isn't Intel, you're up a creek.

If somebody discovers something, let me know!

recently every time i use a program that use my gpu( I have optimus technology so it switch when needed etc...) I get the error message " application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware", the internet does not seem to be very helpful about this problem, does anybody know what causes it/how i can fix it ????

Recently upgraded to Win10Pro. Even with NVIDIA drivers for my graphics card updated, kept getting "black outs" with errors saying "nnnnn application has been blocked...."

After trying multiple suggestions from my google-ings, I came across one that seems to have worked.

What seems to be happening is in the Intel driver MS uses as the default driver. For whatever reason, it has issues. 

What the link above does is it walks you through downloading a beta driver from Intel and replacing the MS version.

Naturally, make a system restore point before hand, just in case.

All I can say, it seems to have worked. Halleluyah.
