I've had this problem a couple of times with my laptop running windows 10. I'm docking my laptop to a docking station, which is connected to a secondary monitor. If I try to run any games with the HDMI cable connected via the docking station I get this error. For me the solution was as simple as just connecting the cable directly in to my laptop instead of going through the docking station (USB connection to the laptop). I guess trying different cables/ports or monitors is worth a try if you're struggling with this issue.

2015-12-14T13:58:08+00:00 Theoretically new machines are all setup off a disk that has everything for that machine, they are mass produced along with the machines, or now loaded through a network connection to HD. So more than likely you had a hardware issue, minor, but more than likely.
