In the last 24hrs I have been unable to open a new email or reply to anything I have received. When I click on  new message, or try to reply to one I get the following from Live drive " A problem has occurred while trying to open this message. A problem has occurred. Please try again."  I am receiving everything perfectly well and the problem? seems to be in my computer not with the server as it won't even let me open anything let alone send anything. Any answers for this one?  I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled it but to no avail! I have run an AV scan and done some maintainence. Everything else seems to be working fine. This has only happened in the last 24 hours.

    The solution you refer to is intended to correct the permissions fault that arises for many users who go though the defragmentation procedure detailed earlier in the thread or encounter error 0x800C0155 for other reasons. Are you seeing this error?

    I don't know how to ... "log on to Windows with an administrator account." 

    If there is only one Windows user account on the computer, it will normally be an administrator account. Click on the start button and then on your profile image (it may be the generic one ![](https://learn-attachment.microsoft.com/api/attachments/78df79e1-3e13-4112-9c97-6f439754cbe6?platform=QnA) ) and select Change account settings. The type of account (Administrator or Standard user) will be shown underneath the image on the settings page.

    If you have done the most recent update for windows 10, click on the "start" button.  On the very left side there are 4 buttons above the start button.  The top one is you.  Click on that.  Then click change account settings.  The first window that pops up will say your info.  Under your name it should say if you are signed in as an administrator. 

    Have you installed windows live mail on this computer?  if you have ask Cortana to find windows live mail and when she pulls up the app in the window, right click on the app itself and then over to "more" and then run as administrator.

    In this case, we will perform the Clean boot on your PC to further identify what's causing the issue.

    Clean Boot temporarily disables all third party applications as well as all Microsoft non-essential services so only basic drivers will run.

    Here are the steps:

    1. From Start, search for msconfig
    2. Select System Configuration from the search results.
    3. On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then tap or click Disable all.
    4. On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click Open Task Manager.
    5. On the Startup tab in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then click Disable.
    6. Close Task Manager.
    7. On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click OK, and then restart the computer.
