disable or remove password startup on Windows 8

How can I disable or remove password startup on Windows 8? I have no need to password protect my PC and I would like to remove it.

Press the Windows + R keyboard shortcut.

Press the keyboard shortcut.

Then enter control userpasswords2 in Run dialog box and hit enter. uncheck the box named Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer

Apply button to see the Automatically Log On dialog box. Enter your password

and click ok.

    Hi Marsha,

    Do you get any error when you type in control userpasswords2 in the Run box by pressing Windows key + R?

    Just to confirm you should not be using the quotes when you type in control userpasswords2.

    You can also use netplwiz in the run box instead of **control userpasswords2.**Check what happens?
