To enable your computer to not require a password to login to Windows 8, perform the following:

    1. Press Windows key + R to open command prompt. Type "netplwiz" into the command promp. OR - Press Windows key + Q to open search, and type "netplwiz". Click it and open it.
    2. Uncheck "user must enter user name and password to use this computer", then click "Apply".
    3. Enter your user name and password, then click "ok".
    4. Restart your computer.

Now you don’t need to enter the username and password each time when you logon the Windows 8.

Mr. Da Costa, thank you. I recently signed up for a one year contract with MS Assure tech support and it has been kind of a nightmare. many erroneous answers given to me with the favorite answer being 'you can't do that". I bought 8.1 pro and looked at it for the first time today and needed a simple question answered. How do I remove the password requirement to startup my computer. I called MS and the tech person had to put me on hold for a few mintues and finally come back and tell me that it can't be done. After I hung up I did a search of my problem and came to your answer. It was easy. What the heck is wrong with some of these MS tech people?
