disable or remove password startup on Windows 8

What I understand from your post is that you were using a local account on Windows 8 and now you are logged in with a connected account/Microsoft account or could be a local account where you have set the password. Windows will not automatically set a password. It will give a prompt you may accept and follow the process or you can skip it.

If you have forgotten your password for your connected account then you can refer to this.

What to do if you forget your Windows password

If you are using a local account then you can try these steps:

• Boot to the Windows Startup settings window and select safe mode with command prompt. On the command prompt window type the following command to enable built in admin account.

net user administrator /active:yes

• Or, from the lock screen window, you can Hold down  SHIFT key while tapping or clicking on **Restart (click on the power button and it will give the option to Restart).**This will bring the Troubleshoot window. Click on Advanced options and click on Command prompt. then you can type the following command.

net user administrator /active:yes

Once you enter the built-in admin account, you can try these steps:

a. Press Windows Key + R type control userpasswords2 and press Enter.

b. In the User Accounts window make sure that the option "user must use a user name and password to use this computer" is un-checked.

c. Logoff from the Admin account.

d. Log in to the account in question and check if it is still asking you for the password.

e. You can also create a new admin account from the built in admin account. To do so follow the below instructions.

• In the “Command Prompt”, type the following command and press “Enter” key on the keyboard:

net user username password /add

f. Disable the built in admin account after the troubleshooting steps are done.

• In the “Command Prompt”, type the following command and press “Enter” key on the keyboard:

net user administrator /active:no
