The Microsoft site just routes the question of disabling the password on 8.1 back to this discussion.  It really is a pain in the butt for home users, and there should be a fix.

I have done this several times on my HP Windows 8.  It NEVER resets and forces me to re-enter the password each time computer wakes from hibernation.  Can anyone help with this??  Thanks for any suggestions.
