I'm trying to disable my startup password, which I have no need for at this time. I've tried following these guidelines to no avail. I do steps one and two, but then the message reads that the computer cannot find "control userpasswords2." I tried the search button to find "control userpasswords2" but reached a dead end.

Frankly, I don't even remember HOW I established the start up password. I don't need one. PLEASE help this non-techie user of a brand new laptop.

I was able to do this using my hotmail login but I don't know the password for the original login.

    Is there a default password?
