Nokia Suite Support for Nokia 301

I eventually managed to import contacts using Nokia PC suite by dragging and dropping the excel file into the contacts screen.

Nokia Suite isn't compatible with the 301 but if you have your contacts stored there (and have lost your old phone like me!) and export them to another folder on the PC or Dropbox you can transfer them by usb cable.

Once exported drag and drop the .vcf contacts files to the Graphics folder on your phone (they should be viewable with Winows Contacts or Outlook). Then from phone find your contacts in Graphics folder under apps - files. Click mark all  under files -options choose share marked - message.  Send to yourself - open text - options - show contents.  You'll have to click on each one then save (so not a perfect solution if you have 1000s) and the file will then be viewable under your contacts.

Hi all, I want to express my deep gratitude for all the advice in this unbelievable thread!

All in all, I must have spent some two whole days trying to get my Nokia 301 to sync contacts and calender with the MS-Outlook on my notebook. The trouble started when the Nokia PC Suite I downloaded from Nokia stated my phone was 'not supported'(!) Since then, I must have read hundreds of postings, but nothing solved the issue. E.g. I downloaded MobilEdit since their website advertises that the program can do what I need, only to discover the program can sync contacts only.  Reading in the specs the Nokia 301 supports MLsync, I even went so far as to install a Funambol server on my home network, but that gave me no joy either: when trying to enter the specifications the phone kept telling me "ask your provider for the specifications".

Just when I was about to give up and buy an android smartphone which I do neither want nor need, I discovered this thread and the advice to download an older version of Nokia PC Suite, which I duly did (version 3.4.49 from http://nokia-pc-suite.software.informer.com/download/) and lo and behold: it worked! The program even found my phone and my outlook without any intervention and proposed to sync them.

In future, I might try the 'microsoft Exchange ActiveSync' as proposed by Abi99, but I need a data-connection for that and so far the apps using a data-connection did not impress me..

Needless to say I fully agree with those on this forum complaining about support; it's a disgrace the way Microsoft managed to screw up even this. But again, lots of thanks for the advice in this thread!
