Nokia Suite Support for Nokia 301

Hello

Does anyone know what the official Nokia position is regarding Nokia Suite supporting the Noklia 301?  I'd like to be able to sync music, install any future firmware upgrades etc etc without needing to use a mobile data connection.  If Nolkia aren;t going to upgrade Nokia Suite to support the 301 is there going to be an alternative?

    Hi all, I want to express my deep gratitude for all the advice in this unbelievable thread!

    All in all, I must have spent some two whole days trying to get my Nokia 301 to sync contacts and calender with the MS-Outlook on my notebook. The trouble started when the Nokia PC Suite I downloaded from Nokia stated my phone was 'not supported'(!) Since then, I must have read hundreds of postings, but nothing solved the issue. E.g. I downloaded MobilEdit since their website advertises that the program can do what I need, only to discover the program can sync contacts only.  Reading in the specs the Nokia 301 supports MLsync, I even went so far as to install a Funambol server on my home network, but that gave me no joy either: when trying to enter the specifications the phone kept telling me "ask your provider for the specifications".

    Just when I was about to give up and buy an android smartphone which I do neither want nor need, I discovered this thread and the advice to download an older version of Nokia PC Suite, which I duly did (version 3.4.49 from http://nokia-pc-suite.software.informer.com/download/) and lo and behold: it worked! The program even found my phone and my outlook without any intervention and proposed to sync them.

    In future, I might try the 'microsoft Exchange ActiveSync' as proposed by Abi99, but I need a data-connection for that and so far the apps using a data-connection did not impress me..

    Needless to say I fully agree with those on this forum complaining about support; it's a disgrace the way Microsoft managed to screw up even this. But again, lots of thanks for the advice in this thread!

    Hi, bha2804. You must be referring to Nokia Suite as you have posted the message under the thread discussing the topic, right? :-)

    Well, Nokia 301 and the other new S40 and Asha devices don't support Nokia Suite. What do you want to achieve? Do you want to transfer files between your PC and phone? Do you want to update the software of the device? Or use the phone as a modem?

    Please provide us details so we can advise what's appropriate regarding your case.
