So when I first got his on Christmas, my start page was full of apps, now I only have these 3: Internet Explorer, Store, and Desktop. What happened? There are apps in the apps section of my computer but none of them are the ones that were there the first day.

But I now have the answer - I subscribed to Secunia PSI before the crash and I've just reinstalled it. That has given me a list of the 61 programs - sorry, Apps - that I had installed. So if you are subscribed to Secunia PSI that will help you to identify what you've lost. The same probably applies to FileHippo, if you had their Apps Manager installed.

Just out of curiosity,  if you had 61 programs installed and then couldn't remember what some of them were, how important could they be?

For what it's worth, a failed Windows Update last October wiped out my laptop - because I had a spare laptop just for that kind of occasion I was able to get help here and I had to do a Clean Install. I lost all my Apps and documents and am still trying to rebuild it.

A question I asked here a month or two back but can't trace now thanks to the current Search problems was 'how do I get a list of my Apps' - the MS-badged employees here couldn't help.
