Samsung apps are missing in samsung ativ smart PC Pro

After installing our corporate Windows 8 volume license build onto my ATIV, I was not able to install S-Note (or any other Samsung app) from the Windows store. After putting far too much energy into trying to find an answer, here is the reply from Samsung engineering (via the enterprise sales channel at Samsung):

"Metro apps can only be installed during master image creation process using designated tools. Of course, developers can install Metro apps locally, but the system needs to be in test mode, and developer environment needs to be setup too. So, in a nutshell, we cannot deliver Metro apps to other users for general use."

I hope they fix that. It seems more likely that the code they use to establish that the PC is an appropriate Samsung model compatible with their app (quite reasonably so non-Samsung PCs can't install their software) is buggy. They must be looking for the Windows build they created rather than at the hardware type. I don't believe the correct people at Samsung understand what's happening presently. This practice is costing them corporate business. 

If their corporate policy is that enterprise customers, virtually all of which will install a corporate build of Windows, are not able to use the value-add software like S-Note then it's on to another manufacturer.

Count me in the same boat.    BRAND NEW Samsung ATIV 700 Pro.    Upgraded to Win 8 pro and everything except the Samsung Apps (S Note et al) works fine, even the SW update, drivers, etc.

So I booted into recovery mode and restored (supposedly) to factory settings.

No Samsung Apps.   Everything else is exactly as others have reported it.   AND on top of that now, Windows activation won't activate the factory restored settings, and there's no CD-key sticker to be found.

Called Samsung and they tell me it's a Microsoft problem.   Seems ridiculous that the so-called recovery to factory specs, BUILT-INTO the device won't activate, didn't install the SAMSUNG applications, and isn't recognized as the proper device if I go the Windows Store route.

So who owns the problem?  

I budgeted for several new Windows 8 touchscreen devices, and bought this one first to work out the kinks.  LOVE the S-pen, and the built-in apps.  But if SAMSUNG punts to Microsoft, and Microsoft punts back, that tells me neither party cares, and that I should be looking at Android tablets or iPads for my dollars.

So I'm giving both sides 48 hours to fix or this device gets returned and the remaining quote that is pending order gets cancelled too.

Your call Samsung and Microsoft!

I am having the same problem. I have a Samsung XE700T1C that was reinstalled. I am wondering why Microsoft is not trying to help us out. It is obvious that there is a problem with the app store.

I returned mine, and cancelled the project.   After going around and around with support on both sides, I decided it was not worth the effort.

Samsung's level 1 support says that it's a Microsoft store problem, but see my earlier thread--it's a Samsung issue and they don't have any intention of allowing customers who install, for example, an enterprise VLA Windows build, to re-install the Samsung apps. The right person at Samsung doesn't know what's going on because someone in engineering is blowing their chance to be taken seriously by enterprise customers.
