Original title: windows mail on W8 to windows live mail?

I hate the mail program on my new laptop, Windows 8.  How can I change the email program to Windows Live Mail as I use with Windows 7?

  1. Are you referring to mail app in Windows 8?
  2. Are you trying to use Windows Live mail instead of mail app?

    I have read all the replies from 2013 and I agree,  I have tried to work with Microsoft Outlook,

    and want to go back to Windows Live Mail.  Is there a newer version or a Beta version for

    2014 available for download?

    seems every thing goes back to signing in and creating a account with Microsoft, done it about 10 times. I think I got it but can' pin it or log into on the mail icon without going through the Microsoft set up. This is so aggravating, really thinking about caring this laptop back.Can not get the number keys on right side to work either

    I went to windows essentials site down loaded and the clicked run,check off what you want,but I am having problems getting into it,It did come up but when I clicked out of it I don't know how to get back into it

    I have just read all three pages of questions and replies and have not seen my exact situation.  I have 8.1, when I tried to download Windows Live Mail the prompt said that essentials is already on my machine and asked if I wanted an older program.  So, I looked through all the programs that came with the computer and could not find Windows Live Mail.  Now, do I let it download Windows Live Mail ( AKA Windows Essentials) and then sort out the mess after the fact?  Thanks for your input.
