Original title: windows mail on W8 to windows live mail?

I hate the mail program on my new laptop, Windows 8.  How can I change the email program to Windows Live Mail as I use with Windows 7?

Hi B Looney,

Thank you for your reply.

  1. Are you referring to mail app in Windows 8?
  2. Are you trying to use Windows Live mail instead of mail app?

Windows Live Mail.

Hope this helps.

it said it "finished", and to "restart now".  I did that but my email came up the same way.  All I want to know is how to manage my contacts list, add/delete/edit; and how can I sort my email by sender or then back to by date?  Can you help me?  Thanks for trying.  I'm just not tech savvy.

It has been such a long time since I changed the email program that I don't remember the details.  It couldn't be too difficult or I couldn't have done it!  When you open the desktop, do you see the recently downloaded Windows Live Mail 2011 as an option?  This is not on the first screen with all the colored apps on it.  After you locate the recently downloaded program, you can delete the old one.  I'll review my setup this morning and see if I have overlooked anything.

I fired up my laptop and found that the mail app on the first screen shows Windows Live Mail.  It is version 2012 but I think it is the same as 2011.  It opens to the way I like in my Windows 7 programs.  I changed the way it is viewed with the messages previewed at the bottom.  There is a menu at the lower left with Mail, Calendar, Contact, etc.  The full editing menu is at the top.  I am puzzled that you could get your email without tapping an email button.  Hope you can find a solution to your problem.  I read that Microsoft is coming out with a fix for some of the Windows 8 problems later this year.

I downloaded the Windows Essentials, but I can't open it.  I says that it can't start, because WLD Core.dll is missing from my computer.  How do I find this dll?
