Install Windows live mail on Windows 8.

All I had to do to find it was click on "Search" and type in "Windows Live Mail". Then right click on the Windows Live Mail icon that it brought up and "pin to start" and "pin to task bar".

And it is the exact same Windows Live Mail that was on my Windows 7 computer. hmmm? No improvements, just the same program.

Using "Search" in Windows 8.x is one of the ways to find what you need; to navigate the environment. You can access search by right clicking the windows icon in the lower left corner of the Desktop, or clicking on the Search icon in the upper right hand corner of the Start Screen or of course you can swipe in from the right hand side and bring out the Search charm and click on that.

The Search mechanism allows one to go directly to a setting without having to navigate linearly till you reach the setting or function you wish to access.

For anyone wanting the Windows Live Mail product vs. the simple mail that comes out of the box then it is pretty simple once you know what to do.

Allow me to walk you through the steps.

1. go to the link that is provided above.

Windows Live Mail.

install the Windows Essentials 2012 package.  All the products are great so install them and use them as needed.

After the install is completed you will have some prompt windows.  I closed the ones that did not apply to my current needs.  The computer took me back to the desktop

2. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/essentials-other-programsgo to the start windows icon, click it and get to apps.  At this point you will still see the original mail app on the screen.  Ignore that and go to APPS (more apps or the arrow down or search apps)...

There you will see a list of apps and the new one will be there for WINDOWS LIVE MAIL.  It will say new on it.  click on it and setup your email accounts.

3. go to your start button,  look at the apps... right click on the mail to remove that one that came with the windows8 and right click on the windows live mail (in the more apps section) and pin it to your taskbar and pin to start.

now you are ready and can find the new email softare
