Original title: windows mail on W8 to windows live mail?

I hate the mail program on my new laptop, Windows 8.  How can I change the email program to Windows Live Mail as I use with Windows 7?

Hi B Looney,

Thank you for your reply.

  1. Are you referring to mail app in Windows 8?
  2. Are you trying to use Windows Live mail instead of mail app?

Windows Live Mail.

Hope this helps.

So let me see. Here on a medium which has no visual ability to see the physical conditions of a correspondent, you want to belittle anybody who didn't know your condition? Maybe if you are going to be so acrimonious when people don't know this, you should preface your comments with an explanation of your condition...and then people won't make the same judgment calls you are chiding them for. On the other hand if you did preface with an explanation then you would be in the right to be indignant. As it is, since you laid out your explanation with acrimony and poison, you aren't going merit an apology.

Well I read through your explanation and don't know if you are telling the truth or just wrapping your self with the saddest tale possible...a hoax or real...

If this is a true story you should lay it out so people can know how to take your typing and wording. This is the internet and nothing is as it seems and if your story is true you need to consider that.

I agree wholeheartedly, setting up Windows Live Mail on this Windows 8 laptop is a real pain. On my old Windows XP desktop it was a piece of cake. Worked perfect, new where it was all the time. Why is it, it can't be the same on this new high tech "much improved" Windows 8 Laptop.

From the Windows Live Essentials download page I opted to download just the Windows Live Mail. Not the Writer or the rest of it. BUT where is it??? Did it actually download or what? So, I go back to the Windows Live Essentials download page and attempt the download again and it tells me I have already installed Windows Live Mail. Really? Then where was it hid and why? This "really wonderful" Windows 8 laptop has no "Start" button so we can't access the Programs ect. and be able to locate anything. Yup, that was real great improvement. Not!

When there is an improvement made, why can't an actual improvement come with it? ...........

'''''''''' Well, I finally located where it was (even without a Start button) and man does the new format really suck from the format and ease of use on my XP desktop.

New and improved? New, yes. Improved? Not in the slightest.

"When something works, why fix it?
